Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Own E-Liquid

Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Own E-Liquid

You've likely heard of vapers who make their own e-liquids, and that's exactly what we're going to talk about today.

Needed Ingredients

To prepare your own e-liquid, you will need several ingredients:

  • E-liquid base: The base is the solvent that allows you to mix flavors and nicotine. It will be the main element of your preparation. This base is composed of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG), the proportions of PG / VG can vary according to the bases, the most common proportion is 50% PG / 50% VG.
  • Food flavoring: Food flavors are easy to find and millions of different flavors are available on the market. Some are mono-flavors (made up of only one taste) while others are already recipes (mixture of flavors) prepared in advance by manufacturers.
  • Nicotine: If you vape nicotine e-liquids, you can add nicotine to your preparations thanks to the "boosters", the boosters are actually basic e-liquids with 20mg of nicotine (maximum dose in Europe). You just need to add some to your preparation and dilute it with the rest. It is also possible to have the base directly nicotineated in several strengths.
  • An empty graduated bottle: (preferably 100ml)

Preparing the E-Liquid

Once you have the ingredients, you need the right dosages for each of them. The first step is to empty 10ml of flavors into the empty graduated bottle, then you have to add the nicotine according to the desired dosage (for example, 20ml of booster to get 3mg). Once you've added the nicotine, all you need to do is fill up the rest of the bottle with base.

Maturing the E-Liquid

You now have a 100ml bottle of e-liquid, but it's not done yet. This bottle needs to rest for several days or even weeks depending on the flavor you used. For example, if you used a classic fruity flavor like apple, strawberry, mango... The e-liquid needs to stand for 5 days, be protected from light and be mixed one or two times a day for several minutes. In this way, you will get as close as possible to an e-liquid professionally made by manufacturers.
