5000 adults will be chosen to smoke weed for 5 years in Switzerland
In Switzerland where weed is proscribed, the government would like to do a study on its long-term effects, according to Merry Jane.
After having noted that 200,000 Swiss people do not respect the 1951 law which prohibits the consumption of cannabis, the government has implemented this bill (see link) which will allow us to envisage an improvement in its legislation.
After a long discussion, a committee of the National Council voted in its favor with 17 votes out of 8 against, according to Le Matin. The 5,000 people who will be chosen to participate in the study will be able to buy, consume and possess cannabis up to 20% THC.
It will be "organic" and they will not have the right to resell it. One of the objectives will be to measure the impact of cannabis use on family, social and professional relationships.
In addition, the study seeks to collect information relating to the general health of the participants.
